David Bailey Inspired

This photograph is inspired by the photographer David Bailey. I have taken this photograph in a studio using artificial lighting. This photograph has been taken in black and white because its inspired by David Bailey. As I am using Bailey’s work from the 1970 period, my model has her hair and clothing in the style of that time. I have used a vintage camera influenced by David Bailey in this shoot to add character.

Camilla Akrans Inspired

Here I have produced four outcomes inspired by the photographer Adith Tirta. I have used this photographer to inspire this shoot because her work is modern and successful. Another reason why I am using this photographer to inspire my work is that she is a good photographer to influence my work because of the wide range of photographs she creates. I have produced these outcomes by using a large range of props that have been inspired by her photography.  I took these outcomes in a studio with artificial lighting directed at the model from both sides of her. I have used a range of props to create different characteristics of the outcomes. I used sink flash technique when taking this photo-shoot and then used Adobe Photoshop techniques to develop them.

Norman Parkinson Inspired

Norman Parkinson inspires this photograph. I have chosen this photographer to inspire my work by using a female model with delicate features and have her wearing a dark blue elegant dress. I have taken this photograph in a studio using artificial lighting directed at the model and sink flash to capture a clean finish. My model is posed with her hand touching her hair and with her head slightly tilted to add structure and shape. My model is looking away and slightly smiling, this adds characteristic and shows her personality.

Liverpool Advertisment 2

Here is my second advertisement to promote the city of Liverpool. I have used an image from the internet to inspire my work. By using an image from my Liverpool photo-shoot I have created a modern and abstract design. I have done this by cutting parts of my original image, moving them and altering the brightness. To finish this poster I have added the type ‘Liverpool’ which tells the audience what I am advertising.

Liverpool Advertisment 1

I have created this graphic poster to advertise the city of Liverpool. Using an image from the internet as inspiration I have created my own poster in this style. By using a photograph from my photo-shoot in Liverpool I have produced a unique and original advertisement. To create this I have used Adobe Photoshop and changed the opacity and gradient of the colours.

Manual Darkroom Texture Screens

Using my Ansel Adam’s inspired photo-shoot I created manual darkroom texture screens. Firstly I exposed my photographs using a light machine with different textures on top of the light sensitive paper, to produce different textures on my photographs. I then developed these using the darkroom chemical process and this was my result.

Ansel Adams Inspired Photography

Being influenced by Ansel Adams I used a film camera to take a photo-shoot. Ansel Adams was an American photographer and environmentalist. He is well known for his black and white film photography of the American West. This is why I have chosen his work to influence my film photo shoot in a rural location. Then by developing my photographs using the darkroom chemical process I produced beautiful black and white vintage style photographs.

Digital Texture Screens

Here I have created digital texture screens, I collected a selection of images of texture screens and then created my own. Firstly I took a location photo-shoot of different textures that I found in a rural area. Then using photographs from my Jerry Uelsmann and Fay Godwin photo-shoots, I overlaid my texture screens on top using Photoshop. I converted my images into black and white then changed the opacity to show the photograph behind.

'Desolate' Project

After collecting black and white nature photographs from different sources for inspiration I took my own rural photographs. I took a photo-shoot in a rural area using different images as inspiration and then converted them into black and white then adjusted the contrast using Adobe Photoshop. Finally I presented these final outcomes in a hard back book called ‘Desolate’ as this name suited my final outcomes. Here is a selection of photographs from this  project.

Fay Godwin's Inspired Work

This is my work inspired by Fay Godwin who was a British photographer known for her black and white landscapes of the British countryside and coast. I have used this photographer to inspire me because I enjoy landscape photography and wanted to try it for myself. Fay Godwin has taken her photographs with a film camera however I have used a digital camera and converted them into black and white using Photoshop.

Rankin's Inspired Work

The photographer ‘Rankin’ has inspired this photograph. Rankin is a famous modern photographer who has photographed the world's most famous names. I have used his work as inspiration by taking this photograph in a studio using a Digital Camera and sink flash. My model is showing expression through her body language and eye contact which has been inspired by Rankin’s work.

Jerry Uelsmann Inspired Work

This is my work that has been inspired by the American photographer, Jerry Uelsmann. Uelsmann is well known for his beautiful and abstract double exposure photography, I have used his work to inspire me as he was the forerunner of photomontage in the 20th century. His work has urban and rural parts as well as portrait elements which makes it so intriguing. I have created my work inspired by his using a digital camera then created a double exposure effect using Photoshop.

Cecil Beaton Inspired Photograph

This is a photograph inspired by the photographer Cecil Beaton. I have used this photographer to inspire this by including vintage style props to create a twentieth century look. I have used artificial lights to highlight the tones within the model. I have used a light below pointing upwards to create the same style as Cecil Beaton. I have used Photoshop to enhance this photograph to alter the brightness and the contrast so I do not alter the original photograph.
